Mc Laughlins CDS initially asked us to tender for the mechanical works package for the whole restaurant as well as pricing for elements of the fitout in the commercial kitchen based on a design by the consultant, the design and package came in over budget and we were asked to work with the consultant to come up with a design and package that could meet the customers budget and an ambitious project completion date.

We came up with a design that did not compromise on performance but offered the end customer considerable savings so we were commissioned by Mc Laughlins CDS to go ahead and carryout the installation with a five week deadline.

Works carried out:

  • Daikin twin split seasonal classic cassette air conditioning units for the café seating area.
  • Daikin VAM heat recovery ventilation units to provide general ventilation to the café seating area which were interlocked with the air conditioning to provide free cooling in the summer time and reduce the air conditioning load.
  • Advanced air swirl type supply air grilles in the heat recovery ventilation system, the swirl type pattern encourages faster mixing of cool supply air with room air and offered much better comfort levels in restaurant seating area for customers.
  • Stainless steel box type canopy with a fresh air plenum and double deflection grilles on the canopy face, the fresh air plenum was ducted to outside to allow natural infiltration of make-up air through a filtered section of duct.
  • Entropic Unobox centrifugal boxed extraction fan with a Danfoss inverter.
  • Plumbing works including hot and cold water and waste to the café, kitchen and toilets and installation of the clients sanitary ware.
  • Supply of an FM environmental external grease trap with inspection hatch.
  • Rinnai 1500I LPG instantaneous gas water heater
  • Gas pipework to the kitchen feed rail and gas water heater from tank position.
  • A Sensors LTD gas pressure proving system with a gas sniffer system in the kitchen including a shut off solenoid
  • A two tank fire suppression system over the main canopy
  • A PU type 80mm panel coldroom with a Searle evaporator, Danfoss Optyma plus low noise packaged condensing unit, Danfoss controller and subpack and lighting to the inside of the coldroom
  • Installation and commissioning of all kitchen equipment supplied by Mc Laughlins CDS.
